So, another summer camp is successfully completed! 9 of us (5 Explorers and 4 leaders) had a great time at Huntingdon Racecourse in Cambridgeshire - with 1,791 other Explorers, Scouts, and Guides. Activities ranged from rafting and climbing to It's a Knockout and the 'gun run'. We had a day out in Cambridge or London, and even went on a swimming trip when it rained. In the evenings there were live acts and music - and Robyn got through to the final of CamJam's Got Talent! All in all it was a great camp - made all the better by the brilliant weather. The only downside was that so few Explorers were there to enjoy it. We have about 26 Explorers on the books at the moment, and even accounting for the 3 who are representing us at the World Jamboree in Sweden, just 20% of the Unit was at the camp. So - the question is - what can we do to get more of you interested? Is it simply that summer camp is no longer the right event for a good turnout (because it clashes with family holidays, exam results, etc...)? Or, is it a lack of notice? Perhaps there is another reason - we'd like to know. Let Ade know your thoughts at the usual address! Thanks. |
